Adeboye Defends Oluremi Tinubu’s Pastoral Role, Rejects Calls For Removal

Share f X W in

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has stated that Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, will continue to serve as an ordained pastor in the church.

Adeboye made the clarification during the church’s monthly Holy Ghost Service.

He explained that Oluremi Tinubu was ordained as an Assistant Pastor over a decade ago, long before her husband, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, pursued the presidency.

According to him, her ordination followed all established procedures and requirements of the church.

He stressed that she has not violated any doctrine or guideline of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

Adeboye said the church would not respond to external pressure or public calls demanding her removal.

He maintained that RCCG operates based on its spiritual principles and internal processes, not political considerations.

The cleric added that the First Lady remains in good standing within the church and continues to function in her pastoral role.

The statement comes amid ongoing public discussions about the intersection of religion and politics in Nigeria.

Adeboye’s remarks are expected to shape conversations around leadership roles within religious institutions and their independence from political influence.
