Drama as Sophia Momodu’s Lawyer Slams Davido With ₦1 Billion Lawsuit Amid Custody Battle

Share f X W in

Fresh drama has erupted in the ongoing child custody battle between Afrobeats superstar Davido and his former partner Sophia Momodu, following a ₦1 billion lawsuit filed against the singer.

The suit was instituted by Sophia’s lawyer, Ebelechukwu Egeonu Enedah, through her law firm, Punuka Attorneys & Solicitors, over alleged verbal abuse and defamation.

According to court documents, the dispute stems from a tense court session held on February 12, 2026, during which Davido allegedly verbally attacked Enedah in court. The situation reportedly escalated when the singer later took to social media to describe her as the “worst lawyer ever.”

The law firm described the comments as defamatory and damaging to Enedah’s professional reputation.

As part of their demands, the firm is asking Davido to:

  • Issue a public apology
  • Retract the alleged defamatory statements
  • Pay ₦1 billion in damages

Davido has reportedly been given a seven-day ultimatum to comply.

Davido and Sophia Momodu have been locked in a custody dispute over their daughter, Imade, since April 2024.

The singer initially approached the Lagos State High Court, seeking joint custody and accusing Sophia of denying him access to their child.

Sophia, however, countered the claims, alleging that Davido had not seen Imade since July 2022 and had failed to meet financial responsibilities, including school fees and rent, leaving her to shoulder the burden alone.

The case took a dramatic turn when Davido withdrew his custody suit. According to reports, the withdrawal followed an alleged remark made in court by Sophia’s legal team referencing Davido’s late son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, which the singer reportedly found deeply offensive.
