Share f X W in

Fresh fear and grief have spread across Oyo State following reports that Michael Oyedokun, one of the teachers abducted during the recent attack on Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele, has been killed by his captors.

The teacher was among several staff members and pupils kidnapped after armed gunmen invaded schools in Oriire Local Government Area on Friday, May 15, 2026.

The attack targeted schools within Ahoro-Esinele and surrounding communities, leading to the abduction of teachers, pupils, and school officials.

According to reports, a disturbing video allegedly released by the abductors on Sunday showed Oyedokun being killed while in captivity.

The incident has intensified fears over the safety of other victims still being held by the gunmen.

The latest development has thrown the affected community into mourning, with residents and relatives of abducted victims calling for urgent intervention from security agencies and the Oyo State Government.

Community members have also appealed to Governor Seyi Makinde and federal authorities to intensify rescue efforts before more lives are lost.

The abduction incident had earlier sparked nationwide outrage after gunmen stormed schools in the Oriire axis, killed assistant headmaster Joel Adesiyan, and abducted teachers alongside dozens of pupils.

Security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, military personnel, Amotekun operatives, hunters, and local vigilantes, have continued operations within forest areas around the Old Oyo National Park corridor where the abductors are believed to be hiding.

As of the latest updates, authorities had not officially confirmed the reported killing of Oyedokun.

The incident has further renewed public concern over growing insecurity and attacks on schools in parts of Nigeria.
