Zulum Urges Prayers in Last Days of Ramadan Over Rising Insecurity in Borno

Share f X W in

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has called on Muslims to intensify prayers during the last ten days of Ramadan for peace and an end to insecurity in Borno State.

Zulum made the appeal while performing the Lesser Hajj in Saudi Arabia, where he said he joined other Muslims in special prayer sessions for lasting peace in the state and across Nigeria.

The message was contained in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Dauda Iliya.

Governor Reacts to Renewed Boko Haram Attacks

The governor said recent coordinated attacks by Boko Haram insurgents should not weaken the determination of residents to remain united.

“As we usher in the last 10 days of the Holy month of Ramadan, let us intensify prayers to Almighty Allah and seek His mercy, blessings and rewards,” Zulum said.

He noted that the period is spiritually significant and should be used to seek divine intervention over the security situation.

Calls for Christians to Join in Prayer

Zulum also appealed to Christians observing the Lenten season to pray for peace and stability in Borno and Nigeria.

According to him, unity among citizens remains important in the fight against terrorism and insecurity.

Government Will Continue to Support Military

The governor condoled with families of victims affected by recent attacks in parts of the state and assured that the government will continue working with security agencies to end insurgency.

He said the renewed violence should strengthen the resolve of residents to stand together against threats to peace.
