ID Cabasa Laments Rising Violence, Says Nigerians Have “Adjusted To Darkness”

Share f X W in

Veteran Nigerian music producer ID Cabasa has expressed concern over what he described as the growing normalisation of violence, killings and insecurity across the country.

In an emotional statement shared online, the music executive said many Nigerians now appear desensitised to tragic incidents because of how frequently they occur.

According to him, citizens are no longer reacting to violent acts with the level of outrage and urgency such incidents deserve.

“It’s so sad now that we have gotten used to evil. Nigerians have gotten used to the killing. We have adjusted to the darkness that has covered this country,” he said.

Cabasa also criticised the government over what he believes is inadequate action against worsening insecurity nationwide.

The producer lamented that instead of standing together against violence and injustice, Nigerians often become divided along political, ethnic, tribal and religious lines whenever tragic incidents occur.

He referenced the recent killing of a teacher in Oyo State, describing the public reaction as short-lived despite the severity of the incident.

“An innocent teacher was beheaded and the next thing we keep adjusting,” he stated.

His comments come amid rising national concerns over insecurity following recent kidnappings, killings and attacks recorded in different parts of Nigeria, especially in schools and rural communities.

The statement has generated reactions online, with many Nigerians agreeing with his concerns about insecurity and the country’s growing desensitisation to violence.
